Improving eyesight without glasses

By Louis Yagera

eye
Williams Bates an ophthalmologist in New York in the early 20th century thought that eyes problems were the result of stress, tension and laziness, he developed a proven system to improve eyesight without surgery or corrective lenses.
Nowadays, people don’t use such a system surgery and glasses are the way to go. However, if you want a free and simple alternative to glasses and surgery , they are system available the Bates Method (inspired of eyes yoga) and others, yes, eyesight can be improved naturally. Let make a tour to those systems:

The AVI program

AVI stands for American Vision Institute, it is a research organization, they developed a system to work on various eyes problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, myopia, poor vision due to aging and eyestrain. The method also help to prevent the deterioration of eyesight. The method is based on a series of exercises such as Pumping and Tromboning which stimulate the flow of nutrients inside the eyes. The method is completed with techniques referred as booster such as affirmations, acupressure (relieve tension and stress, increase blood circulation, light therapy, palming among others. So far the best system and the manual only cost $8, I urge you to go at the Amazon site and read what other users think of this system.

The Bates Method

The Bates Method is a re-education system for the eyes to adjust them and focus them more efficiently. According to Ihealth on the Bates Method “The eye muscles need to be able to move freely in order to make the tiny adaptations necessary to centre on the object of your vision. But, according to Bates, many people habitually strain their eyes by keeping them in a fixed position, ’staring’ at a whole scene rather than allowing constant movement. His exercises teach you to relax the eye muscles and optic nerve and use memory and imagination to improve co-ordination between the eyes and the brain.” They are four main exercises in the method, Palming (resting the eyes by closing them with palm on them), Swinging (this is for breaking the habit of staring and prevent eyestrain), Sunning (taking sunshine on the closed lids to relieve photophobia), combined together the exercises form a good system to improve eyesight without glasses.

Self-Hypnosis

Self-hypnosis can be of great help to improve eyesight especially, if you combine it with the AVI program, a good self-hypnosis session to improve should work the emotional issues behind the eyes problem, many people have eyes problems and disease because , they fear their future, they don’t want see their truth or have lack of self-worth, those psychological conditions impede the vision to some extend. You can read more about that in Karol Truman ‘Feelings Buried Alive Never Die’.

No matter the method, working on the psychological aspect of the eyes problem is always good. If you are one the few who tried every natural vision improvement system under the sun and got no result, I can only encourage to find the psychological reason of your pain.

NLP - Angart Method

The NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) approach is based on the recent retina research, Dane Leo Angart is a NLP trainer who develop a system to improve eyesight based on NLP (belief change techniques), Bates exercises, energy healing and hypnosis. The Angart method is available in book and workshops.

Teachers often observe that their pupils can see the blackboard quite well at the beginning of the term, - but their vision deteriorates as weeks go by. Most school children before school age have good vision. But ten years later most of them have vision problems and have to wear glasses or lenses.

Is it normal for human beings to wear visual crutches? Native people living in the wild are known for their keen eyesight. But when their children become ‘civilized’ and attend schools, they usually develop poor vision and have to wear glasses.

Is poor vision the price we have to pay for being civilized and educated? Are glasses a badge of intelligence and learning? Or are we ruining the eyes (and minds) of our children by educating them in the wrong way?

An American eye doctor, William Bates, proved that children can retain their good vision if they are taught to use their eyes in the right way. His method is simple, and the exercises in the class room only take a few minutes a day. He tested it in school systems in New York and other States, and it always succeeded in saving or improving children’s vision. In other schools most children tended to become myopic around the age of 10 or 12, or they developed other vision problems.

Dr. Bates first explained the process of vision to the teachers. The teachers then showed the students how to rest and improve their eyes with the help of a standard test card placed permanently on the wall. Through simple exercises lasting only a few minutes each day, the children learned to use their eyes in a natural and relaxed way. As a result they also felt better, they found learning easier and they got better grades.

But soon the school authorities claimed that the program interfered with the teaching routine, and opticians claimed that it was unscientific, useless and harmful. The programs were discontinued in spite of their success.

Today, most people in the industrial countries have visual defects. Only one country has an official policy of letting school children do daily eye exercises: China. As a result, the younger generation of Chinese now enjoys much better vision than their parents.

Visual defects are not only a nuisance. They make people nervous, accident-prone and susceptible to many other illnesses. People who wear glasses or lenses are less able to handle stress and hectic environments. Their ability to concentrate and remember things is reduced. Most of this can be avoided, and you can help your kids to see better.
